Riders Pick up Six More in the CFL Canadian Draft

The Roughriders altered their draft order when they completed a trade with the Toronto Argonauts. The Riders received three of Toronto's 5th round picks (39th, 40th and 44th overall) in exchange for Saskatchewan's 3rd round pick (22nd overall).

With the 38th overall selection the Riders took offensive lineman Matt Vonk from the University of Waterloo. Vonk played six regular season games for the Warriors in 2012.

With the 39th overall selection the Green and White picked wide receiver Alex Anthony from Wilfrid Laurier. Anthony has played four seasons with the Golden Hawks totaling 47 receptions for 722 yards and seven touchdowns.

With their third successive pick, 40th overall, the Riders selected defensive lineman Levi Steinhauer from the University of Saskatchewan. The Moose Jaw, SK native registered 30 defensive tackles and five quarterback sacks with the Huskies last season.

With their fourth pick in the fifth round, 44th overall, the Riders selected wide receiver Spencer Moore from McMaster University. The Riders project the three year Marauder to compete at fullback.

With the 49th overall selection the Riders selected defensive back Thomas Spoletini from the University of Calgary. Over three seasons with the Dinos, Spoletini has played 24 regular season CIS games registering 28 defensive tackles and six quarterback sacks.

With their last pick, 56th overall, the Riders selected offensive lineman Eric Armitage from the University of Western-Ontario. Armitage played seven games last season, his third with the Mustangs.
