Blue Bombers Select Andy Mulumba with Second Overall Pick

WINNIPEG, MB - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers selected defensive lineman Andy Mulumba with the second overall selection in this year's CFL Draft. Vice-President and General Manager Joe Mack made the announcement this morning.

"We are ecstatic to get a player of Andy's caliber with the second overall selection today," said Mack. "An extremely talented and gifted athlete, this pick will help us solidify our defensive front and we're looking forward to him donning our uniform and becoming a Blue Bomber."

Mulumba (6-4, 263, Eastern Michigan, DOB: January 31, 1990 in DR Congo, Hometown: Montreal, Québec) was a two-year starter voted All-Conference as a senior after posting 73 total tackles, seven tackles for loss, one forced fumble and one sack. In his junior year and first as a full-time starter, Mulumba recorded 51 total tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks along with two forced fumbles. He finished his collegiate career having seen action in four seasons with the Eagles and accumulating 156 total tackles, 18 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, three pass knockdowns and three forced fumbles and earned a tryout with the Green Bay Packers following this year's NFL Draft.

While at Eastern Michigan, Mulumba was coached as a freshman by current Blue Bomber Defensive Coordinator Casey Creehan.
