EL Chesapeake Baysox

Richmond's Power Sinks Baysox

May 21, 2021 - Eastern League (EL)
Chesapeake Baysox News Release

In a back-and-forth game, the Richmond Flying Squirrels evened the series with the Bowie Baysox at two games apiece on Friday night, as two timely Richmond home runs were too much for Bowie to overcome.

Ofelky Peralta turned out another great start for Bowie, throwing four innings and only allowing three hits with a walk and nine strikeouts. He did concede two runs, but they were unearned.

Bowie struck first, plating a run in the second on a Willy Yahn RBI single, but Richmond answered for two in the third. Jaylen Ferguson tied the game with a solo blast in the fourth, and the Baysox subsequently took the lead in the fifth, when Patrick Dorrian hit a two-run home run, his fifth homer of the year, to give Bowie the 4-2 advantage.

Richmond then scored seven unanswered runs, with three in the fifth and four in the seventh. Heliot Ramos and David Villar both went deep for the Flying Squirrels. Bowie fell to 11-4 on the season, and Richmond improved to 10-6.

On Saturday, Bowie will send right-hander David Lebron to the mound, looking for his second win. He is 1-0 with a 3.38 ERA.

Bowie returns home on Tuesday to face the Harrisburg Nationals at 6:35 p.m. Order online [Order Here] or call 301-464-4865 to purchase your tickets. The 2021 season is presented by Money One Federal Credit Union.
