TONIGHT: The Richmond Flying Squirrels and New Britain Rock Cats will meet in game three of a four-game series...The Rock Cats erupted for seven runs in the top of the second inning including a Brian Dozier grand slam as New Britain stormed away with game two of the series 12-3 on Tuesday night in front of 7,947 fans at The Diamond.

THE PLAYOFF RACE: The Flying Squirrels enter tonight's game three with the New Britain Rock Cats trailing the Bowie Baysox by a 1/2 games for the Wild Card in the Western Division...The Baysox will play one fewer game (141) than the Flying Squirrels (142) this season...Bowie's magic number to eliminate Richmond is six with six games left in the season for both teams...Any combination of Baysox wins and Flying Squirrel losses that equal six would eliminate the club from playoff contention...Richmond will need to finish one game better than Bowie over the final six contests to overtake the Baysox for second place in the Western Division...The Harrisburg Senators magic number to eliminate the Flying Squirrels and Baysox from winning the Western Division is two.
UNLUCKY SEVEN: The Rock Cats scored seven runs in the top of the second inning last night, sending 11 batters to the plate in the frame...The seven runs allowed in the inning was a season high given up by Richmond pitching and the 11 batters faced matched a season high...The club had previously given up six runs in an inning twice this season, most recently 5/27 at Akron when the Aeros sent 11 batters to the plate in a six-run fourth inning.
SLAMMED: New Britain short stop Brian Dozier's grand slam off of left-hander Chuck Lofgren in the top of the second inning last night was the second grand slam allowed by Flying Squirrels pitching in the two-year history of the franchise...Miguel Abreu of the Bowie Baysox hit the only other grand slam allowed by Richmond pitching 5/10/10 off of right-hander Craig Whitaker....Doizer's grand slam was the first hit by an opposing player at The Diamond...Chris Dominguez (6/27) and Francisco Peguero (7/5) have each hit grand slams at The Diamond for the Flying Squirrels this season.
A-FORD-ABLE: Outfielder Darren Ford has posted a season-long eight-game hit streak, going 1-for-4 with a run scored last night...Over his last eight games, the 25-year-old is 11-for-31 (.355) with a double, a RBI, five walks and six runs scored...The New Jersey-native matched a season-high and also tied his own franchise record by stealing three bases on Saturday night at Altoona...Ford is 6-for-9 in stolen base attempts since joining the Flying Squirrels 8/9.
SAN FRANCISCO: Outfielder Francisco Peguero went 2-for-4 last night, extending his hit streak to six games...The 23-year-old has seven hit streaks of five games or more in 65 games with the Flying Squirrels, tied with Roger Kieschnick for the team lead...Peguero is batting .549 (17-for-31) over his last seven games with a double, a home run, four RBIs, and five runs scored...Peguero's multi-hit performance last night was his 22nd multi-hit game including eight games with three hits or more since joining the Flying Squirrels 6/23...Only Charlie Culberson has as many three-plus hit games (8).
HOME AND AWAY: The Flying Squirrels are 44-25 overall at home - the best home record in the Eastern League - and they are the only team in the league with 40 or more wins at home...The club's 44 wins at home are tied for the eighth-most of all of the full-season teams in MiLB...They are batting .263 in 69 games at The Diamond while averaging 4.58 runs per game at home (316R/69G)....Overall, the club is 28-39 on the road, and is batting .228 and averaging 3.49 runs per game (234R/67G) in 67 road contests...The team plays its final four games on the road.
PITCHING IN: The Flying Squirrels pitching staff leads the Eastern League with a 3.49 ERA through 136 games and has allowed a league-low 536 runs...Richmond's pitching staff has allowed two runs or less in 49 of its 136 games (36%)...Starting pitching has allowed three runs or less in 94 of the team's 136 games (69%) and the club is 64-30 in those contests.
