TONIGHT: The Richmond Flying Squirrels and Harrisburg Senators will meet in game two of a three-game series...The Flying Squirrels scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning, then blew a close game open on a Chris Dominguez grand slam en route to a 9-3, series-opening win over the Senators on Monday night in front of 4,326 fans at The Diamond.
TONIGHT'S STARTERS: Right-hander Justin Fitzgerald gets the start in game two of the series for the Flying Squirrels...Making his 15th start of the season...Earned the win in his last outing 6/22 at Harrisburg...Allowed two runs on four hits in eight innings...Struck out six batters and walked two...Outing matched the longest of his career and also matched the longest by a Flying Squirrels pitcher this season...Six strikeouts were a season-high...Both runs allowed came in the bottom of the fifth inning off of a two-run double by Alex Valdez...Allowed the leadoff batter to reach in three of his eight innings on the mound (scored once)...Recorded nine flyouts/popouts and six groundouts...Threw 89 pitches, 60 strikes...Threw 12 pitches or less in six of his eight innings on the mound...Most pitches he threw in an inning was 20 in the bottom of the fifth...Threw first-pitch strikes to 19 of the 28 batters he faced...Spent the entire 2010 season with Advanced-A San Jose...First season as a starter after appearing exclusively in relief in his first two pro campaigns...Went 10-6 with a 3.45 ERA in 26 games, 25 starts...Struck out 116 batters and walked 46 in 146 innings...Ranked 4th in the California League in ERA (3.45), 3rd in opponent batting average (.258) and tied for 5th with 10 wins....Named a California League Mid-Season All-Star...Made three postseason starts with San Jose, going 2-0 with a 1.93 ERA (4R/18.2 IP)...Made 39 relief appearances with Low-A Augusta in 2009...Went 2-2 with a 3.70 ERA, striking out 63 and walking 27 in 56 innings...Made pro debut in 2008, going a combined 1-0 with a 3.86 ERA in 17 appearances...Selected in the 11th round of the 2008 First-Year Player Draft...Attended the University of California-Davis.

#WINNING: The Flying Squirrels are a season-best five games over .500 at 39-35 entering tonight's series-opener against Harrisburg...The best mark in the two-year history of the franchise is nine games over .500 at 22-13...Richmond is also in the midst of a season-long four-game winning streak over which the club has outscored its opponents 33-6...The Flying Squirrels have won six of their last seven series dating back to their three-game series against Reading 6/3-6/5...The club is 15-7 over that stretch.
LOUISVILLE SLUGGER: Flying Squirrels third baseman Chris Dominguez went 2-for-4 with a double, a grand slam, six RBIs and two runs scored last night...The grand slam was the first in Flying Squirrels' franchise history (216 games) and was the second of Dominguez's career (7/24/10 against Hickory while with Low-A Augusta)...His six RBIs matched a franchise record and set a new career-high...Sharlon Schoop also drove in six runs 8/8/10 at Portland...The 24-year-old has hits in each of his last seven contests and is 13-for-28 (.464) over that stretch with eight doubles, a triple, two home runs, 14 RBIs, and six runs scored...He was named the Eastern League Offensive Player of the Week 5/20-5/26 becoming the first Flying Squirrels' position player ever to win a weekly award...Overall, Dominguez is 14-for-42 (.333) at the plate over his first 11 games with Richmond and 12 of his 14 hits have gone for extra bases including nine doubles, a triple, and two home runs.
THE JOLLY ROGER: Outfielder Roger Kieschnick has hits in seven straight games, one short of matching his longest hitting streak this season...The 24-year-old is batting .370 (10-for-27) over his last seven contests with two home runs, eight RBIs, and six runs scored...Over his last 44 games, Kieschnick is batting .319 (53-for-166) over his last 44 games with six doubles, three triples, eight home runs, 33 RBIs and 27 runs scored...The 24-year-old has 19 multi-hit games over that span...He was hitting .173 on 5/7 and was 18-for-104 with six doubles, one homer and eight RBIs in his first 29 games.
BALLPOINT PEN: The Flying Squirrels bullpen has not allowed a run over the last six games spanning 15 2/3 innings...Richmond relievers have allowed seven hits over that span while striking out 20 batters and walking two...Overall on the season, the club's bullpen has posted a 2.31 ERA while striking out 248 batters and walking 77 in 272 innings.
PITCHING IN: The Flying Squirrels pitching staff leads the Eastern League with a 2.93 ERA through 75 games...The pitching staff has logged a league-high 684 innings of work and has allowed a league-low 262 runs...Richmond's pitching staff has allowed two runs or less in 29 of its 75 games (39%)...The club's 2.93 ERA is also the lowest of all of the full-season MiLB teams.
NO PLACE LIKE HOME: The Flying Squirrels have begun a stretch where they will play 21 out of 28 games at home including a doubleheader against Harrisburg 7/9...The club is 26-14 at home and is batting .255 in 40 games at The Diamond while averaging 4.73 runs per game at home (189R/40G)...Overall, the club is 14-21 on the road, and is batting .204 and averaging 3.23 runs per game (113R/35G) in 35 road contests.
