AKRON, Ohio - A night after their best offensive outing of the season, the Baysox were held to seven hits as they fell to the Akron Aeros 4-2 Tuesday night. With the loss, the Baysox have dropped five of their last six contests and fall to 37-38 on the season.

The Baysox were retired in order in the top of the first inning and Akron took an early lead with a run in the bottom of the frame. Jordan Henry led off with a double to left field and moved to third one batter later on a fielding error by first baseman Joe Mahoney. He would score on a sacrifice fly by Beau Mills to put Akron up 1-0.

Bowie answered with a pair of runs in the top of the third inning. Shortstop Pedro Florimon led off with a single to center field and stole second base. After outfielders Ronnie Welty and Xavier Avery both struck out, second baseman Greg Miclat lined an RBI single to left field and moved to second on the throw to the plate. LJ Hoes followed with an RBI single to right field, putting the Baysox up 2-1 before Mahoney flew out to the end the inning.

The Baysox fell behind in the bottom of the fifth inning. Donnie Webb led off with a bunt single back to Zagone. Henry followed with a bunt down the third base line that third baseman Buck Britton thought he fielded in foul territory, but the ball was ruled fair and the Aeros had a pair of bunt singles to open the frame. Ben Copeland drew a walk to load the bases with nobody out and Juan Diaz hit a groundball to Florimon. The Baysox turned a double play for the first two outs of the inning, but Webb scored on the play tying the score at 2-2 and Mills struck out to end the inning.

The lefty Zagone gave way to right-hander Eddie Gamboa to open the bottom of the sixth inning. Gamboa, making his first appearance since April 30, showed signs of rust after spending nearly two months on the Disabled List. He walked a pair of batters in the sixth inning, but escaped unscathed after a pair of ground outs and a successful pickoff at first base. He walked another batter in the seventh inning but held the Aeros scoreless again. Akron finally broke through with a pair of runs in the bottom of the eighth inning.

Mills led off with a single to left field on scored on Kyle Bellows triple to right field. Nick Weglarz lined plated Bellows with a single center field but was erased on the next play when Karexon Sanchez laid down a bunt. Sanchez stole second and third with Juan Apodaca batting, but Gamboa struck out Apodaca and Webb popped out to Florimon to end the inning.

Florimon led off the top of the ninth inning with a double down the right field line but was stranded at second base as the next three Baysox were retired in order.

Zagone did not record a decision in the contest after holding the Aeros to two runs on four hits and three walks in five innings. Gamboa was charged with the loss and falls to 1-3 on the season after allowing a pair of runs on three hits and three walks in three innings pitched.

The teams close out the three game series Wednesday as RHP Zach Clark (5-6, 4.64) takes the mound for the Baysox. He is opposed by Akron LHP T.J. McFarland (3-4, 5.02).

The Baysox began a seven-game road trip Monday, June 27 and returns home Monday, July 4 for a four game home stand that features their Independence Day Celebration with an extended fireworks extravaganza Monday, Tailgate Tuesday and Free Food Tuesday night, Veteran's Appreciation Night Wednesday and the Mystery Bobblehead Giveaway and Festivus Miracle Thursday night.
