Richmond Fights Back to Fall in 10 Innings

RICHMOND, VA - The Richmond Flying Squirrels dramatically rallied in the ninth inning only to fall to the Portland Sea Dogs, 6-5, in 10 innings in front of 8,769 at The Diamond on Saturday night. With the victory, Portland evened the series at a game apiece.

Portland plated the winning run in the 10th inning as Mitch Lively conceded a lead-off double to Che-Hsuan Lin. Lin had moved to to third with two outs, as the Squirrels called upon left-hander David Quinowski. Chih-Hsien Chiang ripped a run-scoring double into the right-field corner to score Lin with the eventual winning run. Lively (2-3) was charged with the run and the loss for Richmond

The Sea Dogs jumped on top with a run against Squirrels' right-hander David Mixon in the first inning. Mixon got the first out, but Nate Spears followed with a single into right field. Ray Chang followed with a single that moved Spears to third. Chang was thrown out attempting to take second base by Thomas Neal from left field for the second out of the inning. Luis Exposito followed with a swinging-bunt single up the third base line that plated Spears for the lead. Exposito took second on the play when Mixon threw wildly to first base. Anthony Rizzo then singled, but Neal added a second outfield assis
