Durham's Walk-Off Blast in 19th Wins Epic Game for Curve

CURVE, Pa. - Miles Durham blasted a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 19th inning to send the Curve to a, 4-3, win over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats on Friday night in Curve, Pa. The 19-inning game is the longest home game innings wise in franchise history. It falls just shy of the 19-inning game on July 13, 2000 when Altoona defeated Norwich, 6-5, in 19 full innings in Norwich.
The 5:49 game time is the longest home game time in franchise history and second longest overall game in franchise history behind the Norwich game. With the win, Altoona now moves five games ahead of Bowie and six ahead of Harrisburg with both teams losing on Friday night.
Neither team was able to crack the scoreboard from the fifth inning on after Jordy Mercer tied the game at three in the bottom of the fifth win an RBI groundout that scored Andrew Lambo from third.
Altoona's bullpen was magnificent on Friday night as Michael Colla, Derek Hankins, Michael Dubee, Anthony Claggett and Tom Boleska combined to keep the Fisher Cats off the scoreboard for 15 innings after starter Bryan Morris departed after four frames. Boleska (1-0), who pitched the final four innings, earned the win for Altoona. The bullpen allowed just six hits over its 15 innings of scoreless relief.
The walk-off win is the fourth of the year for the Curve and they improved to 6-3 in extra-inning games with the victory.
Durham's home run (his eighth) was his fourth hit of the game, which tied a career high that he set just under a week ago at Harrisburg when he went 4-for-6. Josh Harrison, Jim Negrych, Matt Hague, Lambo and Mercer all had multi-hit games in the win as the Curve racked up 17 hits over the 19-inning affair.
Winners of two straight, Altoona (68-50) will look for a series win over New Hampshire (68-50) when the two meet at 7 p.m. on Saturday night from Blair County Ballpark. LHP Justin Wilson (9-6, 3.35) will start for the Altoona Curve while RHP Scott Richmond (NR) will start for the Fisher Cats.
With the game running past midnight on Friday, the fireworks from Friday night have been rescheduled and will be shot off after Saturday night's game with New Hampshire. Myron Noodleman will be in Curve, Pa. entertaining the fans on Saturday evening as well. It's the final Scout Night of the season and it's a Community Collection Day at BCB. Fans are encouraged to bring art supplies to donate to the local Blair County Libraries as they enter the park. Kids can run the bases after the game as well.
