
Richie Robnett And Wilkin De La Rosa Both Placed On The Disabled List

(Trenton, NJ)-The Trenton Thunder, Double-A Affiliate of the New York Yankees, have announced that LHP Wilkin De La Rosa (retroactive to 8/10) and OF Richie Robnett have both been placed on the Disabled List. OF Francisco Santana has been transferred from Staten Island (New York-Penn League) to Trenton.
De La Rosa has made 16 starts for Trenton and is 4-5 with a 3.48 ERA. The left-hander was promoted from Tampa (High-A) to Trenton on May 8th. In 2008, the 6-foot left-hander made 32 combined appearances (11 starts) between Tampa and Charleston, and posted a 9-4 record with a 2.11 ERA. The El Seibo, Dominican Republic native was converted from an outfielder to a pitcher prior to the 2007 season. He had a career .224 batting average. De La Rosa, who is a member of the 40-man roster, was signed by the Yankees as a non-drafted free agent on November 15, 2001.
Robnett was signed by the Yankees and assigned to Trenton on June 12th. He has hit .292 with a home run and nine RBI in 38 games. He currently has an 11-game hitting streak. Earlier this season, he appeared in 38 combined games for the Cubs organization between Tennessee (Double-A) and Iowa (Triple-A). With Tennessee, Robnett appeared in 30 games and batted .184 with two home runs and eight RBI. With Iowa, he only appeared in eight games and batted .143 with one RBI. The 5-foot-10 left-hander was originally drafted by the Oakland Athletics in the first round of the 2004 draft.
Santana has batted .235 with one home run and 10 RBI in 35 games for Staten Island. In 2008, he spent the entire season with the Dominican Summer League Yankees, and batted .307 with six home runs and 38 RBI in 52 games. The Higuey, Dominican Republic native was signed by the Yankees as a non-drafted free agent on 6/15/06.
Trenton and Reading play the middle game of a three-game series tonight from Waterfront Park. LHP Jeremy Bleich (2-5, 5.76) will start for Trenton against Reading RHP Vance Worley (7-8, 5.06).
