
RHP Zach McAllister Placed on the DL

(Trenton, NJ)- The Trenton Thunder, Double-A Affiliate of the New York Yankees, have announced that RHP Zach McAllister has been placed on the Disabled List retroactive to July 14th.
McAllister has a 5-4 record with a 2.25 ERA in 16 starts. He has the lowest earned run average in the Eastern League. McAllister started the Eastern League All-Star Game for the Northern Division team on Wednesday night. He pitched a scoreless inning. McAllister also earned Eastern League Pitcher of the Week honors for the week May 31st. He entered the season as the sixth best prospect in the Yankees Minor League Systeam according to Baseball America. Last season, McAllister split the season between Tampa (High-A) and Charleston (Low-A). He was 8-6 with a 1.83 ERA in 15 games (14 starts) for Tampa. He went 6-3 with a 2.45 ERA in 10 starts for Charleston. McAllister was selected in the third round of the 2006 draft by New York.
The Thunder open up a four-game series against the Portland Sea Dogs (Double-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox) on Thursday night at 7:05 p.m. LHP Jeremy Bleich (0-3, 6.00) will start for Trenton against Portland LHP Felix Doubront (5-2, 3.57).
