RHP Bruney sent to Trenton for rehab stint

(Trenton, NJ)- The Trenton Thunder, Double-A Affiliate of the New York Yankees, have announced that RHP Brian Bruney has been sent to Trenton for a Major League Rehabilitation stint. The relief pitcher will make an appearance in the first game of Trenton's day-night double-header today against the Binghamton Mets.

Bruney has appeared in 10 games this season for New York and is 2-0 with a 3.00 ERA. The Astoria, Oregon native has been placed on the disabled list twice so far this season with an injury to his throwing elbow. In 2008, Bruney appeared in 32 games for New York, and went 3-0 with a 1.83 ERA. He made a brief rehab appearance with Trenton last July. He appeared in two games for the Thunder and went 0-1 with a 3.86 ERA. Bruney was originally drafted by the Diamondbacks in the 12th round of the 2000 draft out of Warrenton High School in Warrenton, Oregon.

Trenton continues its series against the Binghamton Mets at Waterfront Park this afternoon with a day-night doubleheader starting at 1:05 pm.
