
Rheams Goes Yard, Extends Hit Streak in Charleston

CHARLESTON, WV - Zach Rheams drilled his first homer in 2019 and stretched his hit streak to five straight games on Tuesday in West Virginia. The Fireflies fell to the Power, 10-3, at Appalachian Power Park.
Rheams blasted eight homers with the Fireflies in 45 games last season. That was on the heels of a successful college season at Texas Tech where the lefty slashed 17 homers. The Texan is hitting .286 for Columbia through 11 games this year.
The story was the home run on Tuesday. Four were hit with each team blasting a pair. In addition to Rheams, Wagner Lagrange drilled his first homer of the season. Lagrange tattooed a laser over the left-field wall in the ninth. The outfielder finished with two hits.
Shervyen Newton also notched his first hit of the season on Tuesday. The 19-year-old switch-hitter roped a double and walked twice at Appalachian Power Park.
