April 23, 2019 - South Atlantic League (SAL1)
Augusta GreenJackets News Release

Hickory, NC: After the GreenJackets came into L.P. Frans Stadium on Monday and stole the first game of the series, an 8th inning sacrifice fly for the Crawdads proved to be the difference in the second game of the series. A 3-2 win for the Crawdads sets up the rubber match between the two teams tomorrow night.

Matthew Frisbee went the first three innings without allowing a run for the GreenJackets. In the 3rd he got some help from Diego Rincones when the left-fielder threw out Frainyer Chavez trying to score from 2nd base on a single.

In the 4th though, the Crawdads got a pair of solo home runs. Curtis Terry hit his 5th of the season, and later in the frame, Sam Huff went deep for the 7th time this year. Hickory leads the South Atlantic League with 22 home runs this season.

Frisbee ends his night on the mound for Augusta going five innings, allowing two runs and striking-out six as he is charged with his first loss of 2019. It was the longest outing of Frisbee's professional career.

The GreenJackets started their comeback in the 6th inning though. After Rincones doubled, Jacob Gonzalez singled with two outs to cut the Hickory lead to 2-1.

Rodriguez exited the game after six innings. Hickory's starter allowed just one run and finished the night with seven strikeouts on his way to a win.

In the 8th inning, Hickory received a crucial insurance run on a sacrifice fly from Matt Whatley to make it a 3-1 Crawdads lead. The run would be the only one Norwith Gudino allowed out of the GreenJackets bullpen, but it was unearned. Gudino went three innings for the night and he struck out four.

In the 9th inning, with two outs, Aaron Bond hit his 2nd home run of the season putting the GreenJackets down by just one run at 3-2. But Wander Franco grounded out to end the game and the GreenJackets dropped the second game of the series.

Augusta goes to 9-8 while Hickory goes to 13-5.

Player of the Game: Aaron Bond, 1-4, HR

While Bond only had one hit, which was his 2nd home run of the year, he squared up multiple baseballs in the game that we're belted right at the Hickory defense. The lefty has three hits in the first two games to begin the road trip.

Tomorrow's Game: 6:30 p.m. @ Hickory Crawdads, Jake Wong (AUG) (1-1, 4.22 ERA) vs Hans Crouse (HIC) (2-0, 1.26 ERA)

Jake Wong makes his 4th start of the season coming off an outing where he showed why he's ranked as the #7 overall prospect in the San Francisco Giants Organization. Wong went five innings allowing only one run in his last start at home against the Charleston Riverdogs. It was also the first win of his professional career.

Hans Crouse will take the mound for the Crawdads. Crouse is ranked the #1 prospect in the Texas Rangers organization and was a 2nd round pick by the team in 2017. So far in 2019, Crouse has allowed just two runs, and both came in his last start. Tomorrow will be his 4th start of the season.
