Pair of Homers Propel 'Dads to Win

Hickory, NC - The Crawdads defeated the Augusta GreenJackets 3-2 on Tuesday evening. The victory evens the series at one game each.

Curtis Terry collected his league-leading 20th RBI with a solo homerun that put the Crawdads ahead 1-0 in the bottom of the fourth. Two batters later, Sam Huff extended the lead to two runs with a homerun to dead center field that hit halfway up the batter's eye.

The GreenJackets got a run back in the sixth to make the score 2-1. Crawdads starting pitcher Yerry Rodriguez finished the evening with six innings pitched, giving up one run and striking out seven. He lowered his season ERA to 1.20.

Matt Whatley gave the Crawdads a 3-1 lead with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 8th.

Scott Engler allowed a homerun with two outs in the ninth, but got the final out of the game on a groundball. Engler recorded his second save of the season.

The series wraps up tomorrow at 6:30pm with Kids Win Wednesday. All kids 12 and under get in free and will also receive a free meal voucher, and pass for the speed pitch, bounce house, and carousel thanks to NC Pediatric Dentistry. Tomorrow is also Wine Wednesday which means Catawba Farms and Carolina Vines will be at the stadium for a wine sampling.
