
Legends Fall in Game Two to Grasshoppers

WHITAKER BANK BALLPARK (Lexington, KY) - The Lexington Legends fell to the Greensboro Grasshoppers, 7-2 in 10 innings. Despite the loss, the Legends maintain the top spot in the Southern Division by 1.0 game.
The Grasshoppers were first to strike in the top of the third inning. Pat Dorrian lined a single to left field then scored on an RBI single by Mason Martin and Greensboro led 1-0.
Lexington took the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning. Nick Hutchins led off with a double to right field. Juan Carlos Negret then homered to left field, putting the Legends on top 2-1.
Greensboro knotted the game at two in the top of the sixth inning. A solo blast by Mason Martin tied the game, 2-2.
With the game still tied, the Grasshoppers ensured the victory in the top of the tenth inning. Chase Lambert was placed at second as the pace of play runner. Dorrian then singled him home, putting Greensboro ahead, 3-2. Lolo Sanchez hit a ground ball to the shortstop and reached on the fielder's choice. Connor Kaiser then singled to right field. Mason Martin drew a walk, loading the bases. Zach Kone blasted a grand slam, extending the Grasshopper's lead 7-2.
Nick Mears earned the victory for Greensboro, pitching 2.0 shutout innings allowing one hit while walking one and striking out three. Kyle Hinton was given the loss throwing 2.0 innings allowing five runs (four earned) on four hits while walking two and striking out two.
The Legends and Grasshoppers face off for the series finale tomorrow, Wednesday April 24 at 10:35am. Lexington will send RHP Tyler Gray (1-1, 3.55 ERA) to face Greensboro's RHP Brad Case (1-1, 2.16 ERA).
