York Revolution News Release
The York Revolution fell behind early and were unable to get the offense clicking against knuckleballer Tomo Ohka, losing 5-3 to the Bridgeport Bluefish on Friday night at Santander Stadium. The Revs will look to snap a three-game skid, just their second at home all season, as the series continues on Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
Bridgeport struck for three runs in the top of the first inning and never relinquished the lead. James Simmons led off the game with a single to left and Prentice Redman drew a walk in front of Ramon Castro who laid down a sacrifice bunt. Revs starter Logan Williamson's throw to third base sailed away, allowing Simmons to score the game's first run. Luis Lopez drove in Bridgeport's second run on a sac fly, and with two outs in the inning, Juan Martinez grounded an RBI single up the middle to make it 3-0.
The Bluefish added another run in the second on an RBI single to left by Castro to go up 4-0.
Williamson (2-3) entered play having allowed just six earned runs over his previous 29.2 innings, but exited after two innings, charged with two earned runs of the four total, suffering the loss.
The Revs managed six hits against Ohka (4-6) over his six innings, but struggled to bunch those hits together as the knuckleballer allowed just two runs in earning the win, his second of the season at Santander Stadium.
Wilson Valdez ripped an RBI double down the third base line in the third inning and Eric Patterson picked up his 50th RBI of the year on a sac fly to center in the fifth inning, as the Revs climbed within 4-2.
Bridgeport recovered a run in the top of the sixth on an RBI single to right-center by Simmons, making it a 5-2 game.
Travis Garcia tripled down the right field line and scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the eighth, but the Revs would get no closer.
Winston Abreu hit Justin Greene with a pitch and walked Patterson in the ninth inning to bring the winning run to the plate, but survived to record his 14th save.
Garcia led York's offense, reaching base all four times while going 2-for-2 with a double and a triple. Greene and Valdez also had two hits apiece.
York's bullpen allowed just one run over seven innings to stay within striking distance. Ian Durham tied a Revs season-high by a reliever, going four innings out of the "Ëpen while allowing just one run on two hits. His six strikeouts were the most by a Revs reliever this season. Mark Hendrickson, Stephen Penney, and Bryan Morgado all followed with scoreless innings.
