
Complete Performance Earns Doubleheader Sweep

WALDORF, MD . - The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs made up for lost time after last night's rainout and swept a doubleheader over the Camden Riversharks taking Game 1 4-2 before winning the nightcap going away 7-1. Southern Maryland has now won three in a row and is now back to .500 in the second half at 3-3.
GAME 1: SOUTHERN MARYLAND 4, CAMDEN 2
Southern Maryland came from behind with four runs in the bottom of the 5th inning to win the opener of the four-game series 4-2. After allowing a run in the top of the 5th inning to fall behind, the Blue Crabs roared back for four runs in the home half. Jermaine Mitchell tied the game with an RBI single to right field to score C.J. Ziegler, who led off with a single. Jamar Walton then gave the Crabs the lead with a two-run triple to deep right-center field for his first multi-RBI game with the team. Steve Moss capped off the four-run 5th with a sacrifice fly.
Camden scratched out the first run of the game in the top of the 5th inning against starter Jake Brown. With two outs, Yasser Gomez lined a single over the outstretched glove of shortstop Bobby Stevens and into left-center field to plate Michael Albaladejo for a 1-0 lead.
Jose Morales delivered a pinch-hit RBI single in the top of the 7th against closer Jim Ed Warden but Zack MacPhee grounded into an a game-ending double play to thwart the attempted rally.
GAME 2: SOUTHERN MARYLAND 7, CAMDEN 1
In Game 2, Southern Maryland scored in five of their six innings at the dish and won convincingly over the Camden Riversharks 7-1. The Blue Crabs homered three times in the game matching the total amount of hits by the Riversharks.
Brian Grening (1-4) earned his first win of the season pitching the first five innings yielding only one run. Fu-Te Ni (0-1) took the loss in his first outing with Camden lasting just 2.1 innings allowing four runs.
The Blue Crabs scored a run in each of the first three innings to build an early lead. Moss connected with his fourth home run of the season in the 1st and Allan de San Miguel added another run with an RBI double to increase the advantage to 2-0. Luke Murton launched the second home run of the game in the 3rd inning, a two-run shot to build the lead up to 4-0.
Alex Hudak broke up the shutout in the 4th inning for the Riversharks as he grounded a single up the middle to score Bryan Pounds for the team's first run.
Murton hit his second two-run home run of the night in the fifth inning off relief pitcher Michael Click. He finished the game 2-for-4 with the two home runs and four runs batted in, both season highs. Southern Maryland added their final run of the night in the 6th inning as Addison Maruszak in his home debut lined a two-out RBI single into left field to make it 7-1.
The Blue Crabs and Riversharks continue their four-game series tomorrow night at 6:35 pm. Probable starters are righty Daryl Thompson (1-3, 6.70) for Southern Maryland while righty Wes Torres (2-2, 3.64) Is scheduled to pitch for Camden.
