New England Revolution News Release
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Revolution (9-11-11; 38 pts.; 10th in East) will host CF Montreal (17-9-5; 56 pts.; 2nd in East) on Saturday night at Gillette Stadium. The match kicks off at 7:30 p.m. ET and airs on WSBK-TV38, myRITV (Rhode Island), and Cozi TV (Western Mass.), with Brad Feldman and Charlie Davies calling the action. Saturday's match also airs locally on the radio on 98.5 The Sports Hub and 1260 AM Nossa Radio. CBS Boston's pregame coverage begins with "Revolution Kickoff" on WSBK-TV38 at 7:00 p.m. ET.
With three games remaining the regular season, the Revolution sit in 10th place and only three points behind Columbus (41 pts.) for the seventh and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. New England, pushing for its fourth consecutive playoff appearance, is just one point back of No. 8 Inter Miami CF and No. 9 Atlanta United FC, as the race in the East remains heated entering the home stretch. New England has logged results in 11 of the last 12 matches played in Foxborough with a 5-1-6 record dating back to April 16. With a win on Saturday night, New England could pull level with Columbus on points while making Sporting Director and Head Coach Bruce Arena the first coach in MLS history to reach 250 regular season victories.
The Revolution fell at Houston Dynamo FC, 3-1, on Tuesday night in its final match against a Western Conference opponent. Midfielder Carles Gil netted the Revolution's lone goal of the night, while guiding the attack with a season-high seven chances created. Gil, now tied with forward Gustavo Bou for the team lead in goals scored with seven tallies this season, continues to lead MLS in chances created (104) and fouls won (83). The reigning MLS MVP featured alongside his younger brother, Nacho Gil, who has appeared in consecutive matches after joining the Revolution in August. The younger Gil could make his Gillette Stadium debut this weekend, while forward Giacomo Vrioni is also due to see minutes before the home crowd after making two straight substitute appearances.
Goalkeeper Djordje Petrović kept New England within striking distance in Houston with a career-best eight saves, en route to yet another MLS Team of the Week selection. The 22-year-old's performance featured his fourth penalty-kick denial of the season, matching the club's single-season record. Petrović has performed well on his home turf, collecting four clean sheets in eight games at Gillette Stadium. The Serbian enters the weekend with a 75.7 save percentage, second best in MLS.
Fight Childhood Cancer Night
For the ninth consecutive season, as part of Major League Soccer's Kick Childhood Cancer program during the month of September, the New England Revolution will be hosting its annual Fight Childhood Cancer Night on Saturday. Both teams will sport gold ribbon jersey patches in addition to having gold-colored nets, corner flags, and match balls.
