Revolution Fall to Columbus Crew SC, 1-0

April 6, 2019 - Major League Soccer (MLS) - New England Revolution News Release

COLUMBUS - The New England Revolution (1-4-1, 4 pts.) fell to Columbus Crew SC (4-1-1, 13 pts.), 1-0, at MAPFRE Stadium on Saturday evening. The game's lone goal came on a Josh Williams header off of a Federico Higuaín free kick assist in the 42nd minute. The Revs played the game's final 26 minutes with 10 men, after defender Michael Mancienne received a second yellow card in the 64th minute.

Goalkeeper Cody Cropper made his second consecutive start in net, while rookie DeJuan Jones made his second career MLS start in the midfield, playing 61 minutes. Fellow 2019 MLS SuperDraft selection Tajon Buchanan made his second MLS appearance, coming off the bench for Juan Agudelo in the 80th minute.

Forward Juan Fernando Caicedo, who missed New England's first two matches with a muscular injury, made his first MLS start, after previously totaling 33 minutes in three appearances off the bench. The Colombian striker played 69 minutes and tallied two shots in the loss.

New England returns to action next Saturday, April 13, when it hosts defending MLS Cup Champions Atlanta United FC at Gillette Stadium in the clubs' first of two matchups this season. The match kicks off at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBC Sports Boston, 98.5 The Sports Hub, and in Portuguese on 1260 AM Nossa Radio.

New England's all-time record against Columbus moves to 23-38-13, including a 7-16-17 mark in regular season matches played at MAPFRE Stadium.

Rookies Jones and Buchanan Continue to See Pitch

- Midfielder DeJuan Jones made his second MLS start in tonight's 1-0 loss in Columbus. Jones played 61 minutes at MAPFRE Stadium.

- Forward Tajon Buchanan came off the bench for 10 minutes of play in his second career MLS appearance.

- Buchanan and Jones were drafted with the 9th and 11th picks, respectively, in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft.

Juan Fernando Caicedo Makes First MLS Start

- Forward Juan Fernando Caicedo made his first MLS start in tonight's match, playing 69 minutes.

- Before tonight's game, Caicedo made three appearances off the bench, totaling 33 minutes for the Revs.

- The Revolution acquired the Colombian forward on loan from Independiente Medellín on Dec. 20, 2018 using Targeted Allocation Money. Caicedo, 29, owns 89 career goals in nearly 300 appearances across all competitions through nine professional seasons in the top divisions of Colombia and Argentina.

Cropper Makes Second Consecutive Start and 31st Career MLS Appearance

- Goalkeeper Cody Cropper made his second consecutive start in net for the first time since September 2017.

- Cropper now has 31 career MLS appearances in between the pipes.

Revolution Starting XI Sees One Change

- The Revolution's starting lineup saw one change from last weekend's match vs. Minnesota United FC, as Juan Fernando Caicedo replaced Edgar Castillo.
