Reno Returns Home Following Heartbreaking Loss in Tacoma

Tacoma, Wash. - Reno suffered a heartbreaking loss at the hands of the Tacoma Rainiers Sunday afternoon in Tacoma by a score of 5-4. Caleb Joseph and Ben DeLuzio each had two hits this afternoon and Alberto Rosario drove in two. The Aces carried a 4-1 lead into the bottom of the seventh inning today behind a strong performance by right-hander Joel Payamps. Payamps went five innings, allowed one run on four hits and struck out six. Tacoma got two back in the bottom of the seventh inning thanks to five hits and an RBI single by Tim Lopes. The Rainiers squeaked out a run against the Aces closer Jimmie Sherfy in the bottom of the 9th to tie things up and eventually won it in the 10th on a Jake Fraley RBI single. The loss drops Reno to a record of 40-53 on the season before returning back to the Biggest Little City tomorrow night to kick off a 10-game homestand. First pitch against the El Paso Chihuahuas tomorrow night at Greater Nevada Field is slated for 7:05 p.m.

July: With the loss today, Reno has suffered their league-worst eighth loss in the month of July. As a team, they have allowed 101 total hits, walked 53 and struck out 92. Offensively, they are batting .278 through 11 games and have hit 24 home runs and 18 doubles. Last season, Reno finished the month of July with a 17-9 record, second-best in the Pacific Coast League.
