Double Vision: Cory Spangenberg has accumulated a team-leading 22 doubles on the season, which is one shy of his single-season career-high. He compiled 23 doubles in 2013 between Advanced-A Lake Elsinore (13) and Double-A San Antonio (10).
Dubon is Back: The Missions welcome back Mauricio Dubon to the lineup today. Dubon was recalled by Milwaukee on July 7 and made his MLB debut the same day at Pittsburgh to become the first born and raised Honduran to play in the Majors. Dubon went 0-for-2 in his brief two-game stint with the Brewers. With the Missions this season he has been one of their most productive hitters. He is currently on an eight-game hitting streak with San Antonio and on the season is among the team leaders in hits (1st, 105), total bases (1st, 168), games (T-1st, 83), doubles (T-2nd, 19), home runs (T-2nd, 14), runs (3rd, 50), stolen bases (3rd, 9), and batting average (4th, .307). His 105 hits are tied for fifth in the PCL.
Two Cool: Last night the Missions lit up the scoreboard for a pair of runs in the first inning for the third straight game. It is the fourth time this season the Missions have scored in the first inning of three straight games and second time they have done so against Omaha. It is the first time San Antonio has scored multiple runs in the first inning of three straight games. The longest such stretch of scoring in consecutive games was four games from May 1-4 against Iowa and Round Rock.
Crooked Numbers: The Missions posted at least a pair of runs in three separate innings last night. It was the 10th time this season they have achieved that feat and the first time they have done so in back-to-back games. In their 19-1 demolition of the Reno Aces on June 18 the Missions scored multiple runs in a season-high five different innings.
