RENO, Nev. - The Reno Aces had its seven-game winning streak in series openers snapped by the Sacramento River Cats in the team's 8-0 loss on Friday night.
Andrew Young recorded his ninth multi-hit game of the season, going 2-for-4 at the dish with a double.
After a blank top of the first, the River Cats took an early 1-0 lead on an RBI double from Thairo Estrada in the home half. Humberto Mejia worked out of trouble by forcing San Francisco Giants' top prospect Joey Bart to ground into a double play before striking out Jaylin Davis.
The Aces threatened in the second after loading the bases with a pair of singles by Jake McCarthy and Ben DeLuzio and a walk to Bryan Holaday, but could not push a run across and the score remained, 1-0.
Sacramento increased its lead to four, 4-0, on a solo shot from LaMonte Wade Jr., to center and a two-run double by Davis.
Chester Pimental made his Triple-A debut on Thursday, working in and out of trouble while allowing no runs on one hit and striking out Wade Jr., in the fourth.
After a pair of scoreless frames, the River Cats scored twice in the bottom of the sixth on a Drew Robinson two-run home run to right-center increase the Aces' deficit to six, 6-0.
Jeremy Rhoades came on in the seventh and tossed a scoreless frame, striking out Davis and forcing Jason Krizan to pop out to third and Joe McCarthy to ground out to second.
The River Cats tacked on a pair of tallies in the eighth on the two-run single by Estrada to increase the home team's lead, 8-0.
Reno returns to action on Friday against the Sacramento River Cats, with the first pitch slated for 7:05 p.m. PT.
