Butera Homer Puts Bees over Vegas

The Salt Lake Bees picked up a 10-9 victory over the Las Vegas Aviators 10-9 in a back-and-forth affair on Friday night at Smith's Ballpark.

After jumping out to an early lead the Bees trailed 9-6 going into the seventh inning. Jo Adell started a rally with a single and came home a batter later on a Jose Rojas home run. Michael Stefanic then doubled, moved to third on a wild pitch and tied the game on a Jake Gatewood single. In the eighth Drew Butera took the first pitch of the inning over the left field fence to break the tie and give the Bees the lead for good.

The top three batters in the Salt Lake order all scored twice, with Adell leading the way with three hits, a walk and an RBI. Butera finished 3-for-3 with the game winning home run. Tyler Danish picked up his first victory as a Bee with two scoreless innings of work. Tim Peterson gave up a hit and struck out two in the ninth to collect his second save of the season and lower his ERA to 0.75.

The Bees and Aviators will meet for game three of the series on Saturday night. First pitch at Smith's Ballpark is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
