Renegades Crush Yankees, 10-3

Staten Island Yankees News Release
After taking the series opener at Hudson Valley, the Staten Island Yankees (34-31) continued their struggles at home, getting crushed by the Hudson Valley Renegades (33-32), 10-3.
Friday night was met with much anticipation as 2015 16th overall pick James Kaprielian (L, 0-1) took the mound at Richmond County Bank Ballpark for the first time. However, Kaprielian stuggled to replicate his stellar outing from his road start at Lowell where he tossed three spotless innings. The UCLA product ended with 2.1 innings, allowing two runs on six hits with two walks and two strikeouts.
Hudson Valley claimed the lead in the second inning and never looked back. Nic Wilson singled to center field. Wilson scored later in the inning on an Oscar Sanay single, giving the Renegades a 1-0 lead.
The third inning saw Kaprielian in his first big jam as a Baby Bomber. After allowing three consecutive singles and a walk that allowed Joe McCarthy to score, the Yankees went to the bullpen for Jonny Drozd who stopped the bleeding, getting the team out of the inning with minimal damage, down 2-0.
Staten Island got on the board in the third inning. Kyle Holder hit his first of two doubles on the night, later scoring on a Jeff Hendrix single to cut the Renegades' lead to 2-1.
Hudson Valley took control of the game in the fourth inning as Matt Dacey drove home two runs with an RBI single to right field, extending their lead to 4-1.
The game was in reach for the Yankees until the ninth as Matt Borens entered the game, giving up six runs, four earned, without recording an out. Hudson Valley took a commanding 10-1 lead going into the final frame.
Staten Island plated two runs in the bottom of the ninth, but it was too-little-too-late as Hudson Valley walked away with a 10-3 victory, narrowing Staten Island's lead atop the McNamara Division.
The Yankees travel back to Hudson Valley Saturday night before returning to Staten Island to face the Connecticut Tigers on Sunday for Military Appreciation Night at 4 p.m. This story was not subject to the approval of the National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues or its clubs.
