Peoria Rivermen News Release
For the second straight game the Peoria Rivermen were held off the board. On Saturday afternoon at Ricoh Coliseum, James Reimer made 29 saves to earn his second shutout of the season and blank the Rivermen 4-0.
Nazem Kadri led the way for the Marlies offense with three assists in the game while Toronto notched the eventual game-winning goal just 2:43 into the first period. Coupled with Wednesday's 2-0 loss in Abbotsford, the Rivermen have gone 131:06 since their last goal.
Christian Hanson scored the first goal of the game after Kadri was denied a good scoring chance by Rivermen goaltender Jake Allen. As Kadri's backhand shot was kicked away by Allen, Hanson fired in the rebound around a pile of players in the crease.
Toronto struck again at 8:22, this time on their first power play of the game. Kadri made a cross-ice pass to former Rivermen Mike Zigomanis at the bottom of the left circle where he one-timed his eighth of the year over the glove of a sliding Allen. Kadri and Lashoff each picked up their second assist of the game on the goal.
Toronto added onto their lead late in the second on Jerry D'Amigo's fifth of the year. His shot ramped up Daryl Boyle's stick and went directly into the top corner of the net. Brayden Irwin and Alex Foster assisted on the goal.
Marcel Mueller wrapped up the scoring at 11:14 of the final frame tapping in a rebound at the door step on a shot from Kadri.
The Rivermen have lost five out of their last six games, and failed to pick up a win against Toronto this year dropping both contests. Peoria's power play was 0-for-6 and is now 0-for-15 over their last three games.
The Rivermen wrap up their four game road trip on Sunday 2 p.m. against the Lake Erie Monsters. The game can be heard locally on 96.5 ESPN Radio or online on www.rivermen.net.
