Grand Rapids Griffins News Release

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Detroit Red Wings on Saturday recalled center Cory Emmerton from the Grand Rapids Griffins.

Emmerton, 22, earned the first NHL call-up of his career aside from serving a brief stint as a "black ace" during the early part of the Wings' 2008 Stanley Cup run. Detroit's first choice (41st overall) in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, Emmerton owns a team-high six-game assist streak (Oct. 23-Nov. 6) and ranks among Griffins leaders with 17 assists (3rd) and 23 points (T5th) in 33 games, despite missing 12 contests due to injury in December.

He will be available to make his NHL debut today when Detroit hosts the Chicago Blackhawks at 2 p.m.
