Ontario Reign News Release

ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign, back-to-back Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings and Winnipeg Jets, completed a player trade with the Gwinnet Gladiators Tuesday; the Reign swapped defenseman trading Matt Clune for Sacha Guimond.

Guimond, 22, has spent the majority of the first half of the season, 31 games, with Gwinnett, and appeared in two games with Utica in the American Hockey League. With Gwinnett, Guimond registered seven points (1g, 6a) and a -14 rating.

The 6-foot-2 defenseman's 2012-13 season was split between four teams; San Francisco, Worcester, Gwinnett, and Norfolk. In 58 ECHL games he earned 49 points (12g, 37a), he played six games in the AHL but was kept off the scoresheet.

Last season Guimond had a stellar year earning the most points and assists by a defenseman, being named to the ECHL All-Rookie team and ECHL All-Star team, and was honored as ECHL Defenseman of the Year.

Prior to turning pro, Guimond played his 2011-12 season in the QMJHL with Baie-Comeau Drakkar, and played his 2010-11 season with the London Knights of the OHL.

Clune, 24, has been with the Reign since the 2012-13 season playing in a total of 100 games with Ontario. In that time he has recorded 20 points (3g, 17a) and 205 penalty minutes.
