
Bakersfield's Broda Named Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Joel Broda of the Bakersfield Condors is the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for Jan. 13-19.
Broda scored four goals, added three assists and was a +4 last week as the Condors went 3-0-1.
The 24-year-old scored two goals in a 7-2 win against Stockton Tuesday, had two points (1g-1a) in a 4-2 victory over San Francisco on Friday, recorded an assist in a 4-3 shootout loss at Stockton on Saturday and had a goal and an assist in a 3-2 win over Ontario on Sunday.
A native of Yorkton, Saskatchewan, Broda is second in the ECHL with 18 goals, 15 of which have come in the last 20 games, and he is tied for the league lead with four game-winning goals.
A fifth-round selection (144th overall) by the Washington Capitals in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, Broda has 63 points (36g-27a) in 63 career ECHL games with Bakersfield and Orlando. He also has tallied 40 points (22g-18a) in 132 career American Hockey League games with Houston and Oklahoma City.
On behalf of Joel Broda, a case of pucks will be donated to a Bakersfield youth hockey organization by Sher-Wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, Sher-Wood Hockey has donated more than 29,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
