ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign, proud affiliate of the NHL Los Angeles Kings, defeated the Alaska Aces, 4-2, on Saturday evening. The Reign's final regular season home game saw a sellout crowd of 9,644 fans at Citizens Business Bank Arena.
Alaska forward Jason Ryznar scored the first goal of the game for the second consecutive night. At 11:54, Ryznar slipped a shot under Reign goaltender Curtis Darling off assists from left wing Jarrett Konkle and forward Eric Boguniecki.
Thirteen seconds later, Ontario right wing Jon Rheault netted the equalizer for the Reign when he flipped the puck over the left shoulder of Aces netminder Scott Reid. Forward Greg Hogeboom and center Tim Kraus registered the assists.
Forward Nick Mazzolini scored his twenty-fifth goal of the season and gave the Aces a 2-1 lead at 15:32. Center Curtis Fraser and Eric Boguniecki claimed the assists, and Alaska took a one-goal lead into the second period.
Jon Rheault tied the game at two and potted his second goal of the game at 2:29 in the second period. Rheault drew Reid far out of the crease and deked right before throwing a shot five-hole and over the goal line. Defenseman Andrew Martens notched the assist on the game-tying goal.
The Reign took the lead at 7:38 in the final period. Defenseman Colten Teubert fired off a shot that Reid saved, but right wing Sean O'Connor hacked the puck loose. Right wing Geoff Walker streaked up the slot and poked the loose puck over the goal line.
Alaska pulled Reid for the extra attacker but Tim Kraus found the empty net and added another tally for his club. Ontario took the win with a final score of Reign 4, Aces 2.
