Ontario Reign News Release

ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign, proud affiliate of the NHL Los Angeles Kings, was defeated by the Alaska Aces, 2-1, on Friday night in front of 8,618 fans at Citizens Business Bank Arena.

Alaska was the first to get on the board at 13:43 in the opening period. Aces forward Jason Ryznar scored an unassisted goal when he circled around the net and slid the puck through Ontario net minder Mike Zacharias' pads and into the back of the net.

The Aces took a two-goal lead with 2:16 to go in the first period when center Curtis Fraser scored a power play goal. Defenseman Bryan Miller picked up an assist on the play. The Reign decided to pull Mike Zacharias after the goal and put in goaltender Curtis Darling.

Ontario got their only goal of the night at 8:15 in the second period. As an Alaska player tried to clear the puck out of the zone, center Tim Kraus picked up the puck, spun around and shot the puck past Alaska net minder Billy Sauer. Right wings Jon Rheault and Tony Voce picked up the assists on the power play goal.

In the third period, the Reign had some great opportunities to score but could not put the puck past Sauer. Ontario pulled Curtis Darling for an extra skater with less than a minute to go in the third. Ontario was unable to capitalize with the extra attacker and Alaska took their second win in a row against the Reign, with a final score of Aces 2, Reign 1.

Three stars: 1. AK - Billy Sauer 2. ONT - Tim Kraus 3. AK - Nick Tuzzolino
