
Gwinnett Explodes in Third, Beats Florida 4-2

DULUTH, GA - Three third period tallies did in the Everblades on Saturday night in Gwinnett 4-2. Matt Caruana (GW, 1a), Pat Galivan (1g, 1a) and Matt Francis (1g) all scored for Gwinnett in the final stanza, while the only âBlades goal came from Shea Guthrie on the power play. David Brown stopped 27 shots to record the victory for Gwinnett who kept their playoff hopes alive with the victory.
The Florida Everblades opened the scoring at 6:50 of the first period. Milan Gajic broke into the Gladiators zone on the right side and fed the late man coming into the zone, Dominic Osman (19) who fired the puck into the top left corner of the Gwinnett net. The Everblades out shot the Gladiators 9-7 in a fast-paced first period of play and took a 1-0 lead to the locker room.
The only goal of the second period came off the stick of Tom Zanoski (25). Zanoski picked up the puck in the low slot off a faceoff and backhanded a shot that beat Florida goaltender Chris Beckford-Tseu five hole and into the âBlades net. Matt Caruana and Pat Galivan picked up the helpers to tie the score 1-1. The Gladiators out shot Florida in the second stanza 15-13.
Gwinnett took their first lead of the hockey game just 23-seconds into the third period on the power play. Pat Galivan (20) got a pass in the slot from Adam Berti and fired the puck past Beckford-Tseu for a 2-1 advantage. The Everblades evened the scored on the power play on a Shea Guthrie (18) redirection from an AJ Thelen point shot. Gwinnett struck for two goals 11-seconds apart to seal the victory at home by Matt Caruana and Matt Francis.
The Everblades finish off their four-game road trip tomorrow with their last visit to the Arena at the Gwinnett Center against the Gladiators.
