
Grizzlies hold off Condors, 7-4

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah - The Utah Grizzlies (32-29-3-5, 72pts) held off the Bakersfield Condors (35-29-4-1, 75pts) 7-4 at the E-Center on Saturday night. Bakersfield's magic number remains at one to clinch the Kelly Cup Playoffs.
For the second consecutive night, the Condors struck first. C Adam Naglich scored his 14th goal of the season at 5:01 of the first period. F James Sixsmith evened the score at one on the power play with 9:11 remaining in the opening frame. Utah went 1-for-2 on the power play in the first period, while Bakersfield failed to score on their one opportunity.
In the middle frame, the Grizzlies out-scored Bakersfield 3-1 to take a two goal lead. At 2:31 of the second period, LW A.J. Perry made it 2-1 Utah. Just 42 seconds later, LW Dan Kissed tied the score at two with his fourth goal of the season and third in the past two games. D Matt Clarke was credited with a goal when G Timo Pielmeier misplayed a puck with 7:13 remaining in the second period. With 2:28 left in the second period, LW Dylan Hunter gave Utah a 4-2 lead. Utah led in shots 26-16 after 40 minutes.
In the third period, the Condors fought back, but failed to complete the comeback. F Tom May extended the Utah lead to 5-2, 2:56 into the third period. Bakersfield tallied the next two goals to cut it to 5-4. Naglich scored his second goal of the game at 4:22, and F Mark Vaokes tallied his 11th goal of the season with 2:20 remaining in the game on the power play. Sixsmith and LW Ryan Kinasewich scored in the final two minutes to make it a 7-4 final. The Grizzlies out-shot the Condors 42-30 in the game.
