
RedHawks Sweep Thursday Doubleheader

Nashville, Tenn. - The Oklahoma City RedHawks (11-4) moved back into a first place tie with a doubleheader sweep of the Nashville Sounds (4-11), with wins of 4-3 and 4-2, before 4,444 Thursday night at Greer Stadium.
In game one, RedHawks starter Jordan Lyles (3-0) allowed three earned runs and eight hits with one walk and six strikeouts in a winning decision. Sounds starter Josh Butler (0-3) gave up three runs and five hits in five innings for the losing decision. Xavier Cedeno (1) saved the game with one and one-thirds shutout innings.
The RedHawks opened the scoring in the first inning against Butler. Brian Bixler led off with a double and scored on a two-out single by J.B. Shuck for a 1-0 score. Oklahoma City made it 3-0 with a pair of runs in the third inning when Scott Moore drew a bases loaded walk and Justin Ruggiano hit a sacrifice fly.
Nashville countered with two runs in the bottom of the third inning. Taylor Green drove in a run with a groundout and Sean Halton singled in a run for a 3-2 score.
The teams traded runs in the sixth inning. Landon Powell singled in Brad Snyder for a 4-2 score before Nashville's Eric Farris doubled and scored on an Erick Almonte base hit for a 4-3 final.
In game two, RedHawks reliever Fernando Abad (1-0) dealt two shutout frames for the winning decision. Nashville reliever Victor Garate (0-2) allowed the game-winning runs in the seventh inning for the losing decision.
Nashville opened the scoring in the second inning against starter Sergio Perez. Corey Patterson singled, moved to second on a hit, moved to third on a walk and scored on a Logan Schafer single for a 1-0 game.
The RedHawks took the lead with a two-run third inning. Jimmy Paredes led off with his first Triple-A home run and tied the score 1-1. Carlos Corporan doubled on the next pitch and scored on a J.B. Shuck single for a 2-1 lead.
RedHawks starter Sergio Perez left the game during the first at-bat of his third inning with an apparent groin injury, making way for reliever Mickey Storey.
In the fourth inning, Patterson belted a solo home run off Storey for a 2-2 score.
The RedHawks broke the deadlock in the seventh inning. Scott Moore led off the inning with a triple. Snyder later walked and moved to second on a wild pitch. Paredes next singled on a bounding ball over a drawn-in third baseman and scored both Moore and Snyder for a 4-2 score.
