Three Home Runs Power Zephyrs to 3-2 Victory

MEMPHIS, Tennessee - The Zephyrs offense drilled three solo home runs to defeat the Memphis Redbirds 3-2 in front of 7,462 fans at AutoZone Park. Zephyrs starter J.D. Martin pitched 6.2 innings allowed two runs on five hits to earn his first win. Martin also contributed with a seventh inning home run that provided the difference in the game. Kevin Mattison opened the scoring with a third inning solo home run. Scott Cousins drilled a solo shot in the sixth inning and Martin's homer made the score 3-0. The Redbirds offense came alive in the seventh scoring two runs on three hits. Redbird starter Nick Additon takes the loss pitching 6.2 innings. Sandy Rosario retired Memphis in order in the ninth inning to earn his league leading sixth save. The first place Zephyrs are 11-4 on the season.

Game Notes - J.D. Martin's solo home run is the second long ball hit by the Zephyrs pitching staff on this trip. Brad Hand homered in Nashville last Monday. Z's pitchers have contributed eight hits on the season. New Orleans leads the PCL with a 9-3 record in games decided by two runs or less. The Z's are 6-1 this season against Memphis. Z's infielder Gil Velazquez flew to Boston to join the Fenway Park 100th Anniversary Tribute on Friday. The former Red Sox infielder will return to the Zephyrs on Saturday.
