Tucson Padres News Release

The Tucson Padres snapped their four-game losing streak with a convincing victory at Security Service Field Thursday, beating Colorado Springs, 10-2. Padres starter Matt Palmer pitched six innings without allowing an earned run and also helped his cause with a three-run double in the sixth. Thursday's game also featured the T-Pads first weather delay of the season. After playing through rain and brief hail, the game was delayed for 34 minutes in the eighth inning when lightning was seen close to the ballpark.

The Padres scored twice right away on an error in the first inning by Sky Sox shortstop Tommy Field, who misplayed Daniel Robertson's low line drive with the bases loaded. The Padres took advantage of two other Sky Sox errors, scoring six unearned runs in the win. Interestingly, the Padres struck out 15 times in the lopsided win, as Sky Sox pitchers fell one K short of a team record for strikeouts in a game.

Brad Brach pitched a scoreless ninth inning in his first game with Tucson in 2012. Brach was optioned from San Diego on Monday. Blake Tekotte went 2-for-5 with two doubles, extending his hitting streak to 13 games. The Padres have won two of six games on this road trip and now have a 4-11 record.
