RedHawks Sign Kilcrease, Release Sunderland

FARGO, ND - The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks have signed RHP Nathan Kilcrease and released RHP Alex Sunderland, the club announced today. Kilcrease will be in uniform tonight for the RedHawks Home Opener against the Laredo Lemurs at Newman Outdoor Field.

Kilcrease, 23, split time between the Oakland Athletics and Pittsburgh Pirates organization. In seven games with the Burlington (IA) Bees of the Midwest League (A), he was 1-1 with a 1.46 ERA in seven relief appearances but was released by the A's. He quickly latched on with the Pirates and was 0-2 with a 1.22 ERA and 15 saves in 30 games for the West Virginia Power of the South Atlantic League (A).

In two minor league seasons, Kilcrease is 4-7 with a 1.81 ERA and 16 saves. He has pitched 79.2 innings and allowed 22 runs (16 earned) on 68 hits while recording 70 strikeouts. He was originally selected by Oakland in the 30th round of the 2011 draft out of the University of Alabama.

The RedHawks have also released RHP Alex Sunderland.
