FARGO, N.D. -- Blake Gailen belted another ninth inning home run but the Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks had already done their damage, as they routed the Saltdogs 13-4 in front of 3,265 fans at Newman Outdoor Field Saturday night.

The Redhawks scored five runs in the bottom of the second, four of them unearned, to take an early lead. Lincoln took advantage of three Zach Penprase errors in the top of the third to plate three unearned runs to close the gap to 5-3.

Fargo-Moorhead then pulled away with two runs in the fifth, another in the sixth, four more in the seventh and one in the eighth. The final run for the Redhawks came on an RBI single by Phil Britton, and was the first run that Phil Hawke has allowed in six professional appearances on the mound.

Gailen's home run to right center in the ninth inning was his second in as many nights, and his fourth on the year. The Saltdogs center fielder finished the night 3-for-5 with two runs and upped his average to .464, best in the league.

Jake Laber (3-0) pitched 6 1/3 innings, allowing three unearned runs on nine hits while striking out two and walking one to earn the win. Lindsay Gulin (1-5) went 4 2/3 frames, allowing seven runs - three earned - on nine hits while striking out four and walking three to suffer the loss.

Hawke went 2-for-5 with a run and RBI. Jon Nelson, Maikel Jova and Brandon Jones all booked multi-hit nights as well.

Penprase committed four errors in the game, tying an American Association record for errors in a game by a shortstop, set in 2006.

There were six errors committed in the contest, leading to seven unearned runs.

The teams meet for the series finale Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. John James (3-1) is scheduled to start for the 'Dogs against Alex Kaminsky (0-1) for the Redhawks. Radio coverage begins at 12:30 p.m. on KFOR 1240.

The Saltdogs return home to Haymarket Park Monday, June 6 for a week-long homestand against the Winnipeg Goldeyes and defending champion Shreveport-Bossier Captains. For team and ticket information please call 402-474-BALL or visit www.saltdogs.com.
