It was a Saturday night to forget for the Winnipeg Goldeyes.
The Goldeyes (13-9) got down early and watched the Gary SouthShore RailCats (10-12) rack up the runs in an 8-0 defeat before 2,502 fans at U.S. Steel Yard.
Gary started the scoring by scratching across a run in the second inning and two more in the third inning. The RailCats broke the game open in the seventh inning with three runs off Goldeyes reliever William Jackel and finished the scoring with a pair of runs in the eighth inning.
Brian Kolb feasted on Goldeyes pitching with a 4-for-5 night at the plate and four RBI.
Winnipeg starting pitcher Ace Walker posted his fourth quality start of the season by pitching six innings, allowing three runs on eight hits and struck out four. He takes the loss.
Gary starter Jack Frawley tossed eight scoreless innings to get the win.
The two teams play the rubber match of the series Sunday afternoon in Gary. All the action can be heard live on Sports Radio 1290, starting with 55 with Forney at 12:30 p.m.
