TODAY'S OPPONENT:

The Sacramento River Cats are the Triple-A affiliate of the Oakland A's. Last season, the River Cats finished second in the Pacific South with a 78-66 record.

VS. SACRAMENTO:

The two teams split a 4-game series last season at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark. The RedHawks hit .265 with six homers, and RedHawk pitchers had a 4.25 ERA in the series.

TODAY'S GAME:

This is game 114 of the season, and the second of 4 meetings between Oklahoma and Sacramento this season.

ROSTER MOVES:

David Murphy joins the RedHawks today. Murphy was traded to Texas from Boston as part of the Eric Gagne deal. Murphy has spent most of the season with Triple-A Pawtucket, but he did appear in two games for Boston.

LAST GAME:

The RedHawks dropped the first game of their 4-game series with Sacramento, losing 6-1 last night. Trailing 1-0 in the fourth inning, Victor Diaz tied the game 1-1 for the RedHawks with a solo homer in the fourth. The River Cats didn't wait long to answer back as they scored three runs on two hits, including a Dee Brown 2-run homer, in the bottom of the fourth to take a 4-1 lead. The Cats added two more in the fifth off starter Eric Hurley to make the score 6-1. Hurley had a tough outting, allowing six runs on four hits, including three home runs, in five innings of work.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Alfredo Simon

returns from the DL to make his team-high 20th start of the season. He didn't figure in the decision in his last start July 25 against Portland, allowing a run on run on five hits in just three innings of work. Simon hasn't faced the River Cats in his career. Esteban Loazia goes to the mound for the River Cats. Loazia, a former Ranger and RedHawk, hasn't pitched against the RedHawks in his career.

REDHAWKS ON THE ROAD:

The RedHawks fell to 14-5 in their last 19 road games. The Hawks are hitting .292 with 26 homers in the last 19 road games. They have outscored their opponents 122-70 during that time. The pitching staff has a 3.20 ERA in that stretch. The Hawks have allowed more than three earned runs in a road game only six times in the last 19 road games.

TURNING IT OVER TO THE PEN :

The pen has allowed only two earned runs over the last 27.2 innings with 25 strikeouts. Steve Rowe and Scott Feldman combined to throw three scoreless innings last night.

NO SPARK TUG: Tug Hulett's

7-game hitting streak and his 19-game road hitting streak both came to an end after he went 0-for3 last night. Hulett was held without a hit for just the fourth time in his last 35 games. He's hitting .342 with three homers and 17 RBIs over that stretch. Hulett has seen his average go from .238 to .276 during that time.

DIAZ SWINGING HOT BAT: Victor Diaz

rides an 8-game hitting streak into tonight's game. He is hitting .365 (27-74) with six homers and 23 RBIs over his last 18 games after going 2-for-4 with a double and a homer last night. Diaz has reached base safely in 12 of his last 13 games.

LEAGUE LEADERS:

Freddy Guzman leads the league with 41 stolen bases. Hulett is tied for fourth with 79 runs scored.

DOT-DOT-DOT:

The RedHawks are 3-9 on Monday this season, and they're 3-2 August...the Hawks lost for just the eighth time this season (49-8) when they outhit their opponent. The RedHawks had six hits last night to the River Cats five...the RedHawks have homered in every game on this road trip, totalling six in five games...the RedHawks have at least one extra-base hit eight straight games... the Hawks have allowed the opposing team to score first in 11 of the last 13 games... Kevin West has reached base safely in 21 straight road games...Hulett has reached base safely in 20 straight road games...Freddy Guzman has reached base safely in 16 of his last 18 games.
