
Z's Fall Short in Fresno

New Orleans Baby Cakes News Release
Fresno shortstop Luis Figueroa drove home four runs including his second home run of the season as the Grizzlies jumped out to a 6-0 lead and held on to defeat the Zephyrs 6-4 in Fresno on Monday evening. New Orleans starter Philip Humber struggled allowing six runs in four innings and suffered his seventh loss of the season.
Humber allowed a run in the first inning but escaped with the bases loaded. In the second inning the Figueroa smacked a two run home run. Fresno tacked on three more runs in the fourth and chased the Z's starter out of the game. New Orleans rallied in the seventh inning sending ten batters to the plate and scored four runs. Fernando Tatis had a bases loaded double to drive home a pair of runs. The inning ended when Jake Gautreau grounded out with the bases loaded and the tying run at second base. Fresno reliever Dan Giese got the final out in the seventh and retired the Z's in order in the eighth.
Starter Chris Begg earned the win and Brian Wilson pitched a perfect ninth to earn his tenth save. Fresno leads the series 2 games to none and the Zephyrs are 2-4 on the west coast trip.
