RedHawks comeback for 3-2 win over Iowa

Two runs in the seventh inning gave the Oklahoma RedHawks a 3-2 win over the Iowa Cubs Monday at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City.

The RedHawks trailed 2-1 going into the seventh when Drew Meyer led off the inning with a single. After a sacrifice bunt and a walk, Joaquin Arias singled to center to bring home Meyer and tie the game.

The next batter, Adam Hyzdu, hit a sacrifice fly to shallow right that scored Adrian Brown with the winning run. It was the RedHawks 13 th one-run win of the year.

After two innings, the RedHawks trailed 2-0 and had been out-hit 3-0. In the last seven innings, they out-scored Iowa 3-0 and out-hit the Cubs 10-0. RedHawk pitchers faced the minimum over the last 22 batters. The only runner allowed was a walk in the fourth inning that was erased on a double play. The last 16 Cub batters were retired.

Edinson Volquez started for Oklahoma and went six innings, giving up two runs on three hits with three walks and six strikeouts. The bullpen combined for three perfect innings. Bryan Corey pitched the ninth and struck out two to earn his seventh save of the season. He has not allowed a run in his last 8.2 innings.

The RedHawks were led offensively by Jace Brewer, who went three-for-four with a double. Iowa's Jeff Deardorff had a two-RBI triple in the first inning to lead the Cubs.

The RedHawks will play their last home game until June 21 Tuesday against the Cubs. They have a 12-game road trip that begins Thursday.
