Memphis, Tenn. - New Orleans scored three runs late Monday night to beat Memphis 4-2 in front of 9, 303 fans at AutoZone Park.
In the top of the seventh inning New Orleans used a walk and a wild pitch to score a pair of runs and take the lead. Kenny Kelly drew a one-out walk and Josh Labandeira reached base after striking out on a wild pitch. Pinch hitter Brandon Larson tied the game with a single to score Kelly and Bernie Castro drove in the go-ahead run with a fielder's choice. Mike Rose had his first multi-hit game with the âBirds going 2-for-3 with a run scored.
Kinney (1-2) took the loss for Memphis after allowing two runs in the seventh inning. Anthony Reyes started for the Redbirds and allowed one run on five hits in six innings of work. Pedro Astacio picked up his first win with New Orleans on his Major League rehab assignment. The right-hander twirled six innings and allowed two runs on four hits.
The âBirds will wrap up the series and the homestand tomorrow night. Dennis Tankersley (2-5) will head to the hill for Memphis and Anastacio Martinez (1-2) will start for the Zephyrs. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m.
