New Orleans Baby Cakes News Release
The visiting New Orleans Zephyrs scored a pair of runs in the seventh inning to take lead and defeat the Memphis Redbirds 4-2 on Monday night. The win is the Zephyrs third consecutive and have won four of five. The come from behind victory was the Zephyrs 19th of the season.
Ryan Church hit a solo home run in the first to put the Z's on the board but Memphis Mike Rose tied the game with a home run in the fourth. Memphis added a run in the sixth on a John Gall RBI single and the Birds led 2-1. The Zephyrs manufactured a pair of runs in the seventh by scoring two runs on one hit, a walk, two stolen bases and a wild pitch. New Orleans starter Pedro Astacio on a rehab assignment from the Washington Nationals earned the win pitching six innings allowing two runs on four hits. Memphis starter Anthony Reyes pitched well; allowing a run on four hits in six innings, but did not factor in the decision. Memphis reliever Josh Kinney had a blown save and took the loss. Jason Bergmann pitched the ninth and earned the save. New Orleans leads the series 3-0 and goes for the sweep on Tuesday.
Game Notes: Reliever Jason Bergmann pitched a scoreless ninth inning and has now strung together 10 consecutive scoreless innings. Brandon Larson drilled a pinch hit RBI single on Monday night and has 11 RBI in his last 11 games. Nationals starting pitcher Pedro Astacio is scheduled to make another rehab start at Zephyr Field on Sunday vs. Nashville. New Orleans has won four of five and trail the first place Albuquerque Isotopes by 2 ý games.
