Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks News Release

FARGO, ND - The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks made several roster moves ahead of Friday night's post-season roster freeze.

The RedHawks have acquired OF Jose Hernandez from the St. Paul Saints for two players to be named later, assigned OF Mitch Einertson to the Inactive List and placed RHP Mackenzie King on irrevocable waivers for the purpose of giving him his release. RHP Joe Cruz, who had shoulder surgery in August, was also removed from the Inactive List and released.

Hernandez, 27, batted .267 with 18 doubles, one triple, six home runs, 34 RBIs and 40 runs scored in 89 games for the Saints. He will be in uniform tonight as the RedHawks continue a three-game series with the Kansas City T-Bones at Newman Outdoor Field. In 2012, Hernandez batted .316 with 27 doubles, ten home runs, 51 RBIs and 50 runs scored in 92 games for St. Paul.

Hernandez began his professional career in 2009 after being selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 23rd round of that year's draft out of the University of Texas at San Antonio. He spent parts of three seasons in the Pirates organization and advanced to Altoona of the Eastern League (AA) in 2011 before signing with the Evansville (IN) Otters of the Frontier League.

Einertson was acquired by Fargo-Moorhead from the El Paso Diablos in June and batted .239 with eight doubles, one triple, one home run, 21 RBIs and 33 runs scored in 63 games for the RedHawks. King was 3-2 with a 3.96 ERA in 34 games for Fargo-Moorhead. He pitched 63.2 innings and allowed 28 runs (25 earned) on 61 hits.
