El Paso Diablos News Release

El Paso, TX- In the Diablos last home series of the season both the Diablos and fans turned out in style, as the Diablos defeated the Sioux City Explorers taking game one 5-2 in exciting fashion.

After the first three innings of play the Diablos had a narrow 2-1 lead over the Explorers. Both teams were off to a great start defensively, starting pitcher Reyes Dorado was solid going 6.0 innings only giving up two runs on seven hits, with a season high six strikeouts.

Through the next three innings the Diablos padded their lead, scoring three runs to take a 5-2 lead, once again shortstop Maikol Gonzalez was a key contributor as he touched home for the second time in the game to extend the Diablos lead.

With the game still in reach the Diablos needed their best from their relief pitching, Carlos Teller and Marshall Shuler were much in the clutch, only giving up one hit in three combined innings of work, as the Diablos bullpen shutdown the Explorers another win was put down for the Diablos as they won 5-2.

The Diablos are now 37-54 this season as they win game one of their three game series against the Sioux City Explorers, the Diablos play tomorrow night looking to get the series win, 7:05 here at Cohen Stadium!
