
Klipp Deals against AirHogs

WICHITA, KS- The Wichita Wingnuts (62-30) beat the Grand Prairie AirHogs (47-45) 7-1 at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium on Saturday night.
Pitching on three days of rest, Justin Klipp pitched seven strong innings to pick up the win. Klipp allowed one earned run on three hits over seven innings. Klipp walked one and struck out six.
Wichita erased an early 1-0 deficit with two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Ryan Khoury led off with a double down the left field line and took third on Jake Kahaulelio's groudball to second base. John Rodriguez drove in Khoury with an infield single to second base. Rodriguez then stole second and scored two batters later on a line drive single to left-center from Brent Clevlen.
Wichita added three more in the bottom of the second. David Amberson bunted for a single leading off and stole both second and third base before Jared McDonald walked. Khoury made it 3-1 with a sacrifice fly to center that scored Amberson and advanced McDonald to second. Kahaulelio followed with a ground rule, RBI double over the left-center field fence. C.J. Ziegler capped the inning with a two-out, RBI single to right.
Wingnuts' pitching did not allow a hit beyond the third inning. Junior Guerra made his first relief appearance of the year in the top of the eighth, striking out two in a scoreless frame. Daniel Bennett finished the win with a scoreless ninth.
Rodriguez, Clevlen, and Amberson each had multi-hit games.
Gabriel Garcia started for the AirHogs and took the loss. Garcia allowed five earned runs on seven hits in one and two-thirds innings. Garcia walked one and struck out zero.
Grand Prairie's lone run came on an Andres Rodriguez single to right-center in the top of the first.
