El Paso Diablos News Release

El Paso, TX- In the final home game of a storied franchise, the Diablos go out fighting falling short of a comeback losing to the Sioux City Explorers 7-8, and lose the overall series 2-1, in their three game series.

On a momentous night here at Cohen Stadium, the fans showed out in great fashion to say goodbye, and cheer on a team that has provided great baseball and entrainment to the city of El Paso's for years as its only professional baseball team.

It wasn't the best start for the Diablos, going down early to the Explorers at one point being down 8-2, but the Diablos are fighters win or lose. With the fans cheering the home team on the Diablos rallied in the bottom of the fifth inning scoring four runs to cut the Explorers lead to two, but unfortunately they stalled out in the last two innings and eventually losing 7-8, in the last home game ever.

Win or lose, the result would be menial to the importance and significance of the history of the Diablos, for 121 years this franchise has worn different jersey, played in different stadiums, and gone by different names, but this baseball team will always be known as the El Paso Diablos, the team showed great class by always giving it there all, it wasn't the best of seasons for the Diablos, but they went out the Diablo way, never giving up and always fighting to the end.

The final home game might have concluded, but the Diablos still have seven more games to play on the road to finish out the season, starting with the Grand Prairie AirHogs from Aug 26-29, then in the final series of the season against the Gary SouthShore RailCats from Aug 31 to Sep 2.
