MEMPHIS, TN - Memphis pounded out 13 hits en route to an 11-6 victory over Las Vegas Friday night at AutoZone Park.

The 51s jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first off a base hit by David Cooper that sent home Darin Mastroianni while Adeiny Hechavarria headed home on a double play. The 'Birds answered back in the bottom of the frame with RBI-singles from Matt Carpenter and Tony Cruz to tie it up 2-2. Memphis sent nine men to the plate in the fourth, scoring five runs to steal the lead. A two-run homer by Tyler Greene began the rally as a wild pitch by Las Vegas reliever Ronald Uviedo and an error by catcher Ryan Budde plated the last two runs of the inning.

Las Vegas attempted to rally in the eighth with a three-run shot to left field by Hechavarria but fell short as three of their next batters struck out. Nick Stavinoha hit the second three-run bomb of the night for the 'Birds in the bottom of the inning to extend Memphis' lead once again. While Chuckie Fick loaded the bases in the ninth inning with two outs, Victor Marte was able to step in and retire the last batter needed, nailing down his 25th save on the year.

Memphis starter Adam Ottavino earned the win turning in seven solid innings. The right-hander allowed four runs on seven hits for his sixth victory. Las Vegas starter Kyle Drabek took the loss giving up six runs on five hits in 3.1 innings.

The Redbirds begin a nine-game road trip tomorrow night at Albuquerque with first pitch scheduled for 8:05 p.m. CT. Maikel Cleto gets the nod for the 'Birds against 'Topes right hander and former Redbird Mike Parisi. Memphis returns home August 29th for an eight-game homestand against Albuquerque and Nashville to wrap up the season. For ticket information call 901.721.6000 or visit memphisredbirds.com.
