Oklahoma City, Okla. - Angel Berroa, the 2003 American League Rookie of the Year, was 3-for-4 with two triples, a home run and three RBI while leading the Reno Aces (68-58) to a 5-3 win over the Oklahoma City RedHawks (58-69) before 5,971 Friday night at RedHawks Field at Bricktown.

Reno reliever Tom Layne (9-6) entered in the second inning after an injury to starter Barry Enright and allowed one run in five innings for the relief win. RedHawks starter Ryan Rowland-Smith (2-8) gave up four runs and seven hits in six innings for the losing decision. Ryan Cook (3) saved the game with the final one and two-thirds innings.

Oklahoma City built an early lead with a two-run second inning when J.R. Towles and Jose Vallejo singled in runs for a 2-0 score.

Reno tied the game in the fourth inning when Ryan Langerhans walked, Cole Gillespie singled before an Angel Berroa triple scored both for a 2-2 game.

The Aces added two runs in the sixth inning when Gillespie and Berroa hit solo home runs on consecutive pitches off Rowland-Smith for a 4-2 Reno lead.

The RedHawks got within a run in the seventh inning when Brett Wallace walked with the bases loaded to score Koby Clemens for a 4-3 score.

Reno scored an insurance run in the eighth inning when Berroa tripled for a second time and scored on a Juan Miranda single off reliever Douglas Arguello.
