Memphis, Tenn. - Memphis eased by Nashville 9-4 Monday afternoon at AutoZone Park behind David Freese's standout performance.

Freese knocked in a season-high six runs for the Redbirds and went 3-for-4, finishing a triple shy of the cycle. With the bases loaded in the bottom of the second Freese cleared them with a double down the left field line to put the ‘Birds up 3-1. Later in the fifth Freese added a three-run homer to extend the lead to 9-3. The home run was his fifth of the year. Colby Rasmus hit his seventh home run of the year with a two-run shot in the third inning.

Memphis starter P.J. Walters moved to 3-0 with the Redbirds after five innings of work. The right-hander punched out a season-best nine batters and allowed three runs on seven hits. Former St. Louis Cardinals hurler Jeff Weaver took the loss for Nashville after giving up nine runs, five earned, on eight hits and five walks over six innings.

Steve Sollman drove in two runs with his second home run of the year in the fifth inning. Callix Crabbe and Brad Nelson each chipped in two hits in the loss for the Sounds.

Memphis heads out on the road after taking five-of-eight from the Sounds in a home-and-home showdown over the last eight days. The Redbirds play at Iowa tomorrow night with first pitch slated for 7:05 p.m. at Principal Park. Right-hander Blake Hawksworth will be on the slab for the ‘Birds with Iowa sending lefty J.R. Mathes to the bump.
